Did you know that

Alimony can be modified by showing a "change of circumstances." The party who is seeking a modification of alimony bears the burden of proving that there is a "change of circumstances."

If a supported ex-spouse cohabitates with another, then this can be considered a change of circumstance. The court can then reduce or terminate alimony altogether.

Courts look to see if the cohabitation is similar to a permanent house
situation or a marital like relationship.  In Konzelman v. Konzelman, the NJ Supreme Court upheld the cohabitation investigation and agreement and enforced a termination of permanent alimony.
